MOUNT BROMO SUNRISE TREKKING 2D/1N

Mount Bromo sunrise trekking is the most favorite tour package of local tourist and foreign, the smallest mountain in Probolinggo, Java, Indonesia that still active and has the beautiful views and panorama of the Crater. Mount Bromo (2,329 m) is easily recognized as the entire top has been blown off and the crater inside constantly belches white sulfurous smoke. It sits inside the massive Tengger caldera (diameter approximately 10 km), surrounded by the Laut Pasir (Sea of Sand) of fine volcanic sand. The overall effect is unsettlingly unearthly, especially when compared to the lush green valleys all around the caldera.

The major access point is Cemoro Lawang (also Cemara Lawang or Cemora Lawang - blame the East Javanese accent!) at the northeastern edge of the caldera, but there are also trails from Tosari (northwest) and Ngadas (southwest). The village of Ngadisari, on the road from Probolinggo about 5.5 km before Cemoro Lawang, marks the entrance to the national park. Both Cemoro Lawang and Ngadisari are rather picturesque, with brightly-painted houses and flower beds outside.

The area in and around the park is inhabited by the Tenggerese, one of the few significant Hindu communities left on the island of Java. The local religion is a remnant from the Majapahit era and therefore quite similar to that on Bali but with even more animist elements. The Tenggerese are believed to be descendants of the Majapahit princes and were driven into the hills after mass arrivals in the area of devoutly Muslim Madurese in the 19th century. These Madurese immigrants were laborers working for Dutch coffee plantation owners and the native Hindu people of the region soon found themselves outnumbered and either converted to Islam or fled to the inhospitable high mountain tops where they remain today.The religion is a quite low key though (certainly when compared to Bali) with the most visible manifestation of faith being the rather austere Poten temple in the sea of sand. The Tenggerese number about 600,000 and they reside in 30 villages scattered in and around the park with smaller communities elsewhere in East Java. For many visitors, the sight of the angular-faced, sunburned, moustachioed Tenggerese wrapped in poncho-like blankets, trotting about on ponies with craggy mountains as the backdrop, more resembles Peru than Indonesia!

MOUNT BROMO SUNRISE TREKKING TOUR ITINERARY:

Day Tour 01: Bali to Mount Bromo (L)

• The driver pick up you at your hotel lobby in Bali around 08.00 AM, and then will drive to Bali Barat National Park, after the park we will continue to Gilimanuk harbor at approximately 11.20 AM, here we will take a rest while waiting for ferry to Ketapang, from Gilimanuk harbour to Ketapang is take about 45 - 60 minutes.
• When you arrive at Ketapang harbor we will continue our trips to Banyuwangi and get lunch at Banyuwangi local restaurant.
• After lunch, we will drive to Bromo. Check in at a hotel in Bromo area around 05.30 PM and get dinner at Hotel, after dinner is advisable to go sleep early to catch at the 4WD jeep to Mount Pananjakan around 04.00 AM.

Day Tour 02: Bromo sunrise trekking-Bali (B/L)

• Wake up early at 03.00 AM to start your adventures by land rover/jeep to enjoy a spectacular view of sunrise at Penanjakan Hill.
• After sunrise we will explore Mount Bromo crater of Sulfur, then back to the hotel to have breakfast and check out from the hotel we transfer you back to Bali and your lunch we will serve you at a local restaurant on the journey arrive at Bali in the late afternoon.
