1.000 Years-old Mummy Found In Peru

LIMA , Peru Archaeologists found two mummies more than 1,000 years old in the suburbs of the capital Lima. Mummy consisting of an adult and a child found in the ancient complex that has been saved since 1981.

Mummy boy was believed to be in the findings as an offering to the gods and likely buried alive after an adult death. Researchers also found another victim, including the rest of guinea pigs and jars with cat design.

"This is one of the most important discoveries in three decades of excavation, because mummy intact, " said researcher Gladys Paz, reported by the BBC, Friday (25/10).

Mummies were found to be in a squatting position and fully clothed and wrapped in rope. It is the discovery of an intact third among more than 70 graves in the tomb Huaca. The tomb is a pyramid temple, as it was built by the Wari culture of pre -Columbian between 100-600 AD in what is now a neighborhood of Miraflores.

In 2010, archaeologists found the skeleton of a woman with four children and in 2008 found a teenage girl skeleton. The site is built on a land area of ​​2.5 hectares and a tower with a height of 20 meters.

So far, only about 40 percent of which have been excavated. Wari culture developed between the years 500 to 1000 in the northern coastal region of Peru. Little is known about them because the group does not seem to leave written records.
