The Ulun Danu Beratan tourist attraction achieved a national award in the event of Cipta Pesona Award (CPA) 2012. The attraction located at Candikuning village, Baturiti subdistrict, Tabanan, achieved the third position in the field of tourism governance. The award was received by Chairman of the Ulun Danu Beratan Management, Wayan Mustika, and the Head of the Tabanan Culture and Tourism Agency, Wayan Adnyana, in Jakarta, not long ago.
Wayan Mustika said the award was achieved due to good cooperation with various parties. They started from the government, leadership of the Ulun Danu Temple and the community. The assessment made by the team was very tight. Other than assessing the working method, it also evaluated the management of the tourist attraction offering the combination of nature and culture. “Through this award, we expect the tourism management of Ulun Danu will grow up," he said.
In preserving the security and comfort, explained Mustika, his party continued to improve the infrastructure. Among other things, he relocated and constructed 33 units of souvenir shop, opened international restaurant, expanded parking lot as well as arranged the garden and playground for children. “In the upcoming year 2013 or later, we will make an office, restore the multi-tiered meru shrine and yellow bamboo area at the edge of the lake," he said.
After the assessment of Cipta Pesona Award 2012, his party also arranged the entry and exit point in different lanes. Planning of the entry and exit point at the object had been done much earlier, but at the time of assessment it had not operated yet. “It was the weaknesses revealed by the assessment team. Hence, after the assessment by the team from central government, we directly make the arrangements," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Tabanan Tourism and Culture Agency, Wayan Adnyana, gave his appreciation for the award. Ulun Danu Beratan was defeated by Cibodas Safari Park managed by the UNESCO. “Having done the improvement, there is possibility for the Ulun Danu Beratan to be number one next year, as achievement made by the Tanah Lot Kediri and the Eka Karya Botanical Garden, Bedugul, Baturiti," said Adnyana
