Komodo Island which is part of the Komodo National Park (KNP), West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is planned to be closed in 2020. NTT Provincial Tourism Office Head Marius Ardu Jelamu said, Komodo Island will be closed for one year. "As of January 2020, we will be closed temporarily, but not as a whole, only specifically for the island of Komodo," Marius said, to a number of journalists, in his office, Friday (02/08/2019). 

Marius claims that the closure of Komodo Island has become a joint commitment between the NTT Provincial Government and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
