"The main objective of this international investigation team is to evaluate, investigate, and determine the cause of this accident so that similar accidents can be avoided in the future," said Acting Transportation Minister Malaysia Hishammuddin in Kuala Lumpur.
Hishammuddin added that the government has continued meeting with Malaysian oil company Petronas and others to expand the search aircraft at sea in the southern Indian Ocean.
The plane lost more than seven weeks ago with 239 people, including crew.
