The Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali is dedicated for a World Peace Airport. The ceremony was marked by the inauguration of the inscription and the delivery of statue in the form of Sri Chinmoy ‘the Dreamer of World Peace’ in a new garden of the international arrival area, Thursday (Feb 13). This dedication marked the series of the 50th anniversary of the Angkasa Pura.
The dedication ceremony was attended by the leaders of Bali, the King of Bali from Klungkung, Blahbatuh, Karangasem, Jembrana and Pemecutan as well as Ida Pedanda Sebali Tianyar serving as the President of the World Hindu Parishad. Co-General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, said the determination was an honor because the community of the Island of the Gods continued to be given an award by foreign leaders. “The Ngurah Rai Airport is re- established as the world peace airport. This conferment becomes a proud of its own,” he said.
Previously, said Ardita, this international airport had been dedicated as the world peace airport in 2002. Having been renovated, this Indian spiritual leader re-dedicated it as Sri Chinmoy Peace Airport. “Bali is a peaceful island and we will realize the title with excellent customer services,” he said.
In order to give the impression of comfort, the Angkasa Pura I also placed paintings that featured Balinese culture in every waiting room plus then interior implementing the Balinese architecture. It was meant to give the comfort to travelers, so that they could feel to be in Bali. “It highlights various themes such as the puppet paintings that tell about our daily lives,” he added.
In the future, his party would also program for the installation of replicas of the figures that told the history of Bali. Chief of the kings in Bali, the king of Klungkung Ida Dalem Smara Putra (Bali King Brotherhood), stated that with the dedication he hoped the peace would reverberate from Bali that would support the creation of peace in the world. “Hopefully, the presence of Sri Chinmoy statue will exude vibration of kindness and peace so that anyone coming to the airport can feel it, share it and appreciate it,” he hoped.
