Gili Trawangan is the largest of the three small islands or Gili located in the northwest of Lombok. Trawangan is also the only one of Gili Islands that altitude above sea level is significant. With a length of 3 km and width of 2 km, Trawangan populated about 800 people. Among the three of Gili Islands, Trawangan has facilities for the most diverse tourists; The tavern " Tîr na Nôg" claims that Trawangan is the smallest island in the world with its Irish bar. The most populous part is the east of the island.
Trawangan has a feel of "party" than Gili Meno and Gili Air, because of the many parties throughout the night that each night rotated its show by some crowded places. Popular activities made by tourists in Trawangan are scuba diving (with PADI certification), snorkeling (on the northeast coast), kayaking, and surfing. There are also several places for tourists to learn how to ride by horse around the island.
In Gili Trawangan (as well as in the other two Island), there are no motorbike, as they are not permitted by local rules. The usual means of transportation are bicycles (rented by the local community for tourists) and cidomo, a simple horse cart commonly found in Lombok. To travel to and from the three Gili, residents usually use motorized boats and speedboat/fast boat.
Excess of Gili Trawangan compared with other beach is we can enjoy the sunset and also sunrise at once at this beach! How come? because Gili Trawangan has a beach facing east and facing west, and the distance is not too far away. So that both of sunrise and sunset, we can enjoy on this beach.
