Why visit Bali? |

We have travelled extensively to the destinations we feature. Here are the five main reasons they would consider a visit to Bali.
Lots to see and do!
Bali offers stunning natural beauty with miles of pristine sandy beaches, towering volcanoes, lush tropical forests and picturesque rice terraces. The West coast mainly round the Kuta area offers the best surfing on the island where as the calm waters of Benoa offer more opportunities for motorised water sports in dedicated areas. Day trips to see more of the island include trips to the East and the "Mother Temple" in Besakih which is Bali's most holy and Indonesia's biggest Hindu temple. Shopping is plentiful in Kuta and Legain where you can buy everything from cut price DVDs to arts and crafts. Seniyak has a selection of more exclusive boutiques.
Food
Bali offers some fantastic dining options from traditional Balinese fare to western fine dining restaurants. Most hotels have an impressive selection of cuisine to choose from but the best food is to be found in local restaurants where you can eat well and inexpensively. Balinese food tends to be quite spicy and you will find this more so in the local restaurants but there is something for everyone. For seafood the best place is Jimbaran Beach where you can enjoy the freshest barbequed fish in a magical setting as you watch the sunset from the beach.
Nightlife
Bali has something for everyone from exclusive retreats to lively resorts. Nusa Dua in the south is where many of the 5 star hotels are located and entertainment is based mainly around the hotel with most resorts offering live entertainment each night. Kuta is the busiest and most lively area on the island. This is where the main bars and clubs located and offer a great night out for those looking from more action. Seminyak offers a more sophisticated scene with trendy bars, clubs and restaurants. This is a lively but more upmarket area than its neighbour Kuta. Jimbaran and Sanur offer more laid back evening entertainment but taxis are fairly inexpensive so a night out in Kuta or Seminyak is still accessible from other areas.
Romantic Getaway
Bali is an ideal romantic getaway and perfect for honeymooners. Many hotels feature villa rooms which are ideal for couples seeking a private setting. Villa rooms are typically Balinese in style, secluded as they are surrounded by walls with a private entrance, have an indoor and outdoor living area and many feature a private pool. Bali is also a very popular destination for weddings, with some hotels featuring a chapel in the grounds, usually in a setting with breathtaking views. Bali is home to the spa, many spas throughout the world have taken inspiration from Balinese treatments. It is well worth taking the opportunity to have a couples treatment or massage. With Intimate hotels, picture postcard scenery and a true "get away from it all" experience, Bali is one of the most romantic destinations to visit.
Culture
A visit to Bali is not simply a holiday on a beautiful beach. You will find the locals are some of the friendliest in the world and will offer a warm welcome. The Balinese are very proud of their Hindu culture which can be seen from all the many temples and palaces all over the island, many hotels even have their own temples in the grounds. Ubud in the mountains is the best place to experience the Balinese flair for art with live performances, sculptures and paintings on show. The Puri Lukistan or Palace of Fine Arts is set on a hill top in Ubud and a must see for visitors to Bali. A two or three night stay in Ubud makes an ideal addition to stay in one of the beach resorts.
